TSM Reviews: Radioddity DB50-B

     The Radioddity DB50-B is a 2-meter/440-MHz multi-band transceiver with built-in GPS and APRS/KISS/TNC/Bluetooth capabilities in a very compact package. Robert says this is an attractive option for APRS, Packet, amateur satellite work and much more. He puts this small transceiver through its paces and finds that, paired with software, it’s a “truly surprising radio.”

     One hundred years ago, newspapers felt like they were fighting for their lives. Radio, with its instant communications potential, was gripping the entire world. Many newspapers didn’t resist the movement—they joined it. That’s what the St. Louis Globe-Democrat did in 1925. But it wasn’t smooth sailing. The new station had to share the frequency with a lower powered station that had earlier been assigned the frequency and—there was labor strife.

After the war his Ph.D. research explored solar flares and analyzed the ground-breaking First Cambridge Radio Survey of the cosmos followed and he never quit—he was still active at 102 years old.
